fuckyeahgreekmythology:

Arachne
The story of Arachne is the origin story of how spiders came to be.
An extremely talented weaver and widely considered to be the greatest of all weavers, Arachne often likened herself to the goddess Athena.  More so, she claimed that her talents surpassed the goddess of weaving.  When Athena heard her claims, she challenged Arachne to a contest to settle the score of who was superior.
Athena’s scene on her work was that of gods punishing mortals for trying to compare themselves to gods, and Arachne’s work depicted how the gods’ actions had led mortals astray.  Enraged, Athena tore apart Arachne’s loom and shamed her.  Arachne subsequently hung herself from a tree, prompting an act of mercy from Athena.  Athena transformed her into the first spider, and made it so that all of her descendants would weave in the form of webs for the rest of time.

To think that some people don’t see a problem with society is disturbing

I think it’s safe to say those people are asking for a punch in both the face and the dick.

fit-foot-forward:

This is Scarlett Johansson at a beach in Hawaii.

She is one of the most gorgeous women in the world and a huge sex symbol. She isn’t totally skinny, she only has a thigh gap if she stands with her legs apart and she has cellulite and stretch marks on her thighs and butt. Does she give a fuck? No!

Regardless of all this, she’s absolutely gorgeous. There’s nothing wrong with cellulite, or stretch marks, or not having a perfectly flat stomach, you are beautiful and these things are normal.

I just wanted you all to see somebody who isn’t “perfect”, is still incredibly beautiful and doesn’t care about her stretch marks.

This legitimately just made me feel 1,000x better. I am a perfectionist about every aspect of my life, and sometimes it’s hard for me to recognize that nobody is or can be perfect.

I’m pretty sure I have reblogged this before but I just love this so much. Scarlett is one of my favorite women of all time.
